I love this list - I totally agree with #1 (which I've read) but my favorite is #6, which I've also read.

Here's one they missed....

Unbelievable! They missed "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit." Mind you, that wasn't great literature when compared with The Lord of the Rings.

I've read several of these books. One, Middlesex, which I haven't read is quote on my calendar for this month. I thought that an odd coincidence. Hated Old Man and the Sea.

I have read 16 of them and parts or most of 4 more. But I don't think they are the 100 best novels...or even the hundred best first lines.
