why oh why?

The Abundant Life tonight is talking about parents losing children. It is breaking my heart but I can't turn it off. There are days when I wish that I could turn off my empathy.

Father, if it be possible let this cup pass from My lips, but not My will but Thine be done.

You do not carry your cross alone, dear Alicia, and thanks to you, neither does He.

I was also watching that particular episode on EWTN. More surprising to me was that my husband was watching too. He lost two brothers at two different times when he was growing up and it brought back lots of memories. It was striking for him to hear the stats- that 80% of marriages end after the death of a child. He remembers his parents having it pretty rough, but they got through it by the Grace of God.

It was moving to hear the woman talking about when she was grieving for her son, and how she literally felt it in the depths of her womb, almost as if she were in labor. During one particular time feeling the labor pain, she heard God speak to her and ask her if she would labor him into Eternal Life just as she had labored him into his earthly life. Of course she said she would. It was about how through suffering, we can help others... It was a hard show to watch, yet I too could not turn away from it. I was crying quite a bit and being pregnant to boot didn't help much!

Keeping you and the rest of Sophia's family in our prayers Alicia. Take it easy.
